TTN participated in the SOPA Internet Blackout today. Websites around the world went black for 12 hours today to show you what the internet would be like if the US SOPA bill passes – it would be just the beginning with other countries following. Thank you for your patience and support. And now back to our regular programming…
On January 18, 2012 the internet is going on strike to stop the web censorship bills. Now is our moment. On Jan 24, Congress will vote to pass internet censorship in the Senate, even though the vast majority of Americans are opposed. We need to kill the bill - PIPA in the Senate and SOPA in the House - to protect our rights to free speech, privacy, and prosperity. We need internet companies to follow Reddit's lead and stand up for the web, as we internet users are doing every day. True Tofino News Read more [...]
Why should Canadians care? A Canadian version of SOPA would come next. We’ve seen it before. Bill C-32 was a Conservative attempt to introduce American-style copyright law into Canada, and we signed off on ACTA earlier this year. SOPA is like C-32 on steroids, so a Canadian flavour of SOPA would be likely. It’d be used to “strengthen our relationship” with American politicians. The Harper government has been getting increasingly cozy with the United States. With the recent border Read more [...]
Hey District of Tofino, do any of you use the MUP/Bike Path to commute? With this snow the MUP (Multi Use Path) or bike path as we prefer to call it (bike path is inclusive just like calling a group of women guys) is downright dangerous. The wet underneath becomes ice and as the snow compacts it also turns to slippery ice making riding, skating or walking a tightrope event: one false step and you're down. And here's the really fun part - imagine doing that in the dark as you come home from work. So Read more [...]
Support Don Staniford in this court case brought by the Norwegian Mainstream fish farming corporation by attending the court case itself or sending money for his costs. Mainstream Canada is owned by Cermaq - and who is the largest shareholder of Cermaq - the Norwegian government. Donate to the Don Staniford Defence Fund here. (Yes, of course we donated, would we ask you to if we didn't pony up ourselves - jeesh) Read more [...]

Check out this link http://occupywildsalmon.com/ Occupy Wild Salmon This content has been taken from the About Page of the Occupay Wild Salmon website. TTN recommends this site as a place to find accurate information that is not spun by mainstream media. Occupy Wild Salmon (WSOV) is a workgroup that was established out of OccupyVancouver on Oct 16, 2011. Think that SOPA/PIPA won't affect you? Think that if you're not doing anything wrong, everything will be alright? Think again. SOPA/PIPA - Dangerous, censorizing bills that will end the internet as we know it - and we don't feel fine about it. The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), also known as H.R. 3261, is a bill that was introduced in the United States House of Representatives on October 26, 2011, by Representative Lamar Smith (R-TX) and a bipartisan group of 12 initial co-sponsors. The bill expands Read more [...]
And the Secrets Are Dirty
We hate Fish Farms (hey it’s TTN, we have to begin with something negative).
We love what Don Staniford is doing.
And we support everyone who is standing with him, supporting him – and donating to him.
As usual Colbert has his finger in the pie, whoops we mean on the pulse. On the Cobert Platinum Green Edition for The Super Wealthy Only, aired September 17, 2007, he took Clayoquot Wilderness to task for their luxury camping. We thought we'd post this just to remind people that it's not just us who think this hollywood actor/corporate elite/royalty minded idea of camping is grotesque. 'For 45 hundred dollarls per person you get three nights in a village of canvas tents, with remote control wood Read more [...]
